Montana has two main regions that stretch across the state, one of the main regions is the Great Plains. This region makes up most of this state with its rolling land that is slightly scattered by steep mountains, wide river valleys and gently sloping hillsides. The vegetation in this region is mostly just types of grasses that cover all parts of Montana, but there are other plants such as Pawpaw and Sassafras that are found in some parts of the Great Plains. The Great Plains region is mainly used for ranching and farming because of its wide open spaces and its mineral rich soil.
The other important region is the Rocky Mountain region. This specific region is made up of sparkling rivers, mountain lakes, and snow-capped peaks. More than fifty separate mountain systems rise in this section of the state. One of the most known mountain ranges is the "Rockies", which stretches over 3,000 miles across Montana and into Canada. The state's largest mountain rises 12,790 feet and the mountain valleys can be as wide as 40 miles. Montana's spacious land is mainly used for farming, because of its wide and open plains that are perfect for farming.
